IPTV TV Guide (EPG) Not Working? How to Fix Missing or Wrong Listings
Empty guide, 'no information' on some channels, or listings an hour out? Why the EPG is separate from your channels, and how to fix each problem.

The TV guide (EPG) usually comes from a separate data feed from your channels. That's why channels can play perfectly while the guide is empty, shows "no information" for some channels, or runs an hour early or late. Each of those three problems has a different cause — find yours below.
How EPG data works
Your player combines two things:
- The channel list — the streams themselves.
- The guide data — a schedule file (commonly in the XMLTV format) listing programmes, start times and descriptions.
The app matches each channel in the list to its schedule using an ID. If the guide file doesn't load, nothing shows; if an ID doesn't match, that channel shows "no information"; if time zones disagree, everything shifts. More vocabulary in our IPTV glossary.
Problem 1: The whole guide is empty
Likely causes: the guide hasn't downloaded yet, the guide address is missing, or the app's cache is stale.
- Wait a few minutes after first setup. Guide files can be large and load after the channel list.
- Trigger a refresh. Most players have Update EPG, Refresh guide or Reload in settings.
- Check an EPG address is set if your app asks for one separately. Paste it exactly as your provider sent it.
- Check date and time on the device are set to automatic — a wrong clock can make the app think all listings are in the past.
- Clear the app cache or reinstall, then sign in and let both channels and guide load.
Problem 2: Some channels say "no information"
Likely causes: those channels have no schedule in the guide data, or their IDs don't match.
- Check whether the gaps are always the same channels. If so, it's the data, not your app — report the channel names to your provider.
- If your player lets you choose between several guide sources or map channels manually, re-map the affected channel to the right schedule.
- Some channels (for example event-only or 24-hour loop channels) simply don't have detailed listings.
Problem 3: Listings are an hour (or more) out
Likely causes: time-zone or daylight-saving mismatch between the guide data, the app and the device.
- Set the device's time zone and automatic time correctly.
- Look for an EPG time offset / time shift setting in the player and adjust it by the number of hours you're out (e.g. -1 or +1).
- If it went wrong on the day clocks changed, refresh the guide the next day — some data sources update their offsets late.
Problem 4: The guide stops a day or two ahead
Guide data covers a limited window, often a few days. If the guide runs out early:
- Enable automatic EPG updates (daily is typical).
- Restart the app once a day if it has no automatic update option.
Problem 5: Catch-up from the guide doesn't play
Catch-up depends on the channel supporting it and on accurate guide times. If catch-up opens the wrong programme, fix the time offset (Problem 3) first. If the channel has no catch-up icon, it isn't offered for that channel.
Quick reference
| What you see | Most likely cause | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| Empty guide everywhere | Guide not loaded | Refresh EPG; check guide address |
| "No information" on a few channels | Missing or mismatched data | Report channels; re-map if possible |
| Everything 1 hour out | Time zone / DST | Device time zone, then EPG offset |
| Guide ends after 1–2 days | Update window | Enable daily auto-update |
Still not right?
If you've refreshed, checked the time settings and the same channels stay blank, it's the guide data — contact your provider with the channel names. For other issues, the IPTV troubleshooting checklist covers loading, login and crash problems.

Frequently asked questions
Why do my channels work but the TV guide is empty?
The guide is usually a separate data feed. The channel list can load while the guide data hasn't downloaded or isn't configured. Refresh the EPG and check any guide address in the app.
Why is my IPTV guide one hour behind?
A time-zone or daylight-saving mismatch. Set the device's time zone and automatic time, then use the player's EPG time offset setting if needed.
