HBO Max in October 2026: What's New, Get Jiro! and Live Playoff Baseball
This month on HBO Max: new arrivals including Get Jiro!, a Halloween favorite about to leave, and the live MLB playoff and NHL games it streams.
HBO Max is Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service, and in October 2026 it is streaming more than movies: the American League playoffs stream live on it alongside TBS and truTV, and so do TNT Sports' NHL games. New this month are the adult animated series Get Jiro! (from October 4) and films including The Housemaid (October 9), The Death of Robin Hood (October 16) and The Invite (October 23). To sign up, or to check current plans and prices, go to the official site, hbomax.com.
Information checked: October 10, 2026, for the US. HBO Max says its monthly line-up can change.

Get Jiro! on HBO Max
Get Jiro! adapts the graphic novel by Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose into an animated series for adults, from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios. It premiered on Toonami, Adult Swim's anime and action block, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, and has streamed on HBO Max since Sunday, October 4. It's violent and aimed at adults, in line with Adult Swim's late-night programming.
Is it a hit? As of October 10, 2026, neither HBO Max nor Adult Swim had published viewing figures, so we can't say how it's performing. Third-party charts such as Nielsen's streaming top 10 usually report a few weeks after a premiere. (Anime fans on PlayStation: Sony is adding a dedicated anime hub to the PS5 in spring 2027.)
Leaving soon: Corpse Bride
Tim Burton's Corpse Bride arrived on October 1, but JustWatch's US listing, checked on October 9, shows it leaving HBO Max in about three weeks — around the end of October. If it's on your Halloween list, don't leave it too late. Other trending older films, and where they stream, are in where is Oppenheimer streaming?
Live sports on HBO Max
- MLB playoffs: TNT Sports simulcasts the American League Division Series and the American League Championship Series (from Monday, October 12) on TBS, truTV and HBO Max. White Sox fans: see how to stream the White Sox playoff games.
- NHL: TNT Sports has a 72-game regular-season schedule in 2026–27, and its games are simulcast on HBO Max.
Live sports aren't included in every HBO Max plan, so check the plan details on hbomax.com before counting on it for a game.
Coming later from Warner Bros.
HBO Max is the streaming home for Warner Bros. films. The End of Oak Street has been available to rent or buy since September 15, but its HBO Max date hasn't been announced. Coyote vs. Acme, although made at Warner Bros., was released by Ketchup Entertainment, so HBO Max isn't guaranteed. Both are tracked in new movies on streaming.
How to get HBO Max
- Directly at hbomax.com, which lists the current plans, with and without ads.
- Through bundles and add-ons, such as HBO Max as an Amazon Prime Video channel or in bundles with Disney+ and Hulu.
If you knew the service as "Max": it went back to the HBO Max name in July 2025.
