New Movies on Streaming: October 2026 Arrivals, Rentals and What's Next (US)

The biggest new movie on streaming this weekend is Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, which arrived exclusively on Peacock on October 9, 2026. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been available to rent or buy since October 6 but has no subscription-streaming date yet, and Resident Evil and Other Mommy have not announced streaming dates either. Below is every October arrival we could confirm, followed by how to estimate when a new release will reach your streaming service.

New to rent or buy

These films are out on premium digital — you pay per film in stores such as Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango (the store formerly called Fandango at Home, and before that Vudu; see how Fandango streaming works) — but aren't on a subscription service yet.

Disc releases follow: The End of Oak Street on November 3 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day on December 15.

The fall 2026 movies people are searching for

Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg's alien-conspiracy thriller, from Universal and Amblin, opened in theaters on June 12, 2026. Since October 9 it has streamed exclusively on Peacock in the US. David Koepp wrote the screenplay from Spielberg's story, and the cast includes Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Sony's Spider-Man film opened on July 31, 2026, and has been available to rent or buy digitally since October 6. It isn't on a subscription service yet: Netflix is its expected first streaming home in the US (see below), but no date has been announced.

Resident Evil

Zach Cregger's Resident Evil opened in theaters on September 18, 2026, and was still in the domestic top three on the October 2–4 weekend. There is no digital or streaming date yet. As a Sony release, it is expected to go to Netflix first.

Other Mommy

Universal's horror film from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, starring Jessica Chastain and directed by Rob Savage, opened in theaters on October 9, 2026. No digital or streaming date has been announced; Peacock is Universal's usual streaming home.

The End of Oak Street

David Robert Mitchell's science-fiction thriller for Warner Bros., starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, opened on August 14, 2026. It has been available to rent or buy since September 15, and the 4K, Blu-ray and DVD release follows on November 3. HBO Max is Warner Bros.' streaming home, but no date has been announced.

Coyote vs. Acme

The Looney Tunes comedy starring Will Forte and John Cena, directed by Dave Green, was made at Warner Bros. but released in theaters by Ketchup Entertainment on August 28, 2026. It has been available to rent or buy since September 29. No subscription-streaming home has been announced.

New series and documentaries this week

Carrie (2026 series)

Avatar: Seven Havens

The new animated series set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender world premiered on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026. Its first season has 26 episodes, split into two 13-episode "books". Watching animation on a PlayStation 5? Sony and Crunchyroll are adding an anime hub to the PS5 home screen in spring 2027.

Saban and Get Jiro!

When will this fall's movies be on streaming?

Why these services: Netflix is the first subscription home for Sony's films in the US under the two companies' pay-one deal, which Netflix confirmed in January 2026 — so despite the Marvel connection, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected on Netflix first, not Disney+. Peacock belongs to NBCUniversal, the parent company of Universal, and HBO Max to Warner Bros. Discovery. Coyote vs. Acme was made at Warner Bros. but released by Ketchup Entertainment, so its streaming home is open. Expected doesn't mean confirmed: we'll add each date when the studio or service announces it.

In theaters now

Looking for what's playing on the big screen instead? The top five films at the US box office on the weekend of October 2–4, 2026, according to The Numbers, were Verity (new that weekend), Resident Evil, Heart of the Beast, Digger (new) and Primetime. Two more opened on October 9: Universal's Other Mommy and Aaron Sorkin's The Social Reckoning (Sony), the follow-up to The Social Network.

How movies get from theaters to streaming in 2026

1. Theaters only. Universal now guarantees cinemas at least five weekends of exclusive play for its 2026 films, rising to a minimum of 45 days from January 2027.
2. Premium digital (rent or buy). Among the films above, this came 32 to 67 days after opening.
3. Subscription streaming. The film arrives on the studio's own or partner service. Disclosure Day reached Peacock 119 days — about four months — after opening.
4. Later windows. Films often move between services afterwards, which is why older titles appear and disappear.

Smaller distributors such as A24, Lionsgate and Ketchup Entertainment agree deals film by film, so treat this table as a starting point, not a promise.

How to check where an older movie is streaming

Searches for catalog titles such as Oppenheimer, Casper or The Social Network rise around holidays, anniversaries and related releases — and their streaming homes change often. 1. Search inside the services you already pay for — it's the most up-to-date source for that service.
2. Use a streaming guide such as JustWatch or Reelgood, with the country set to the US.
3. Watch the start and end of the month: licensed films often arrive on the 1st and leave at month end. October brings Halloween additions, such as Corpse Bride on HBO Max.
4. Check digital stores: if a film isn't on any subscription service, it can usually be rented or bought.
